A Licensed Clinical Social Worker and also an ordained minister, Howard Irwin has over 20 years of experience in providing mental health and substance abuse services with a holistic philosophy integrating the healing of body, mind and spirit. My clinical training, experience as a social worker, and my work as a pastor reinforces my belief that change is possible, Howard shares. I view the counseling experience as a partnership where together we explore, define and begin to move towards the goal of a healthier, happier and more complete life.
Howard has worked with people in a variety of outpatient, clinical and hospital based settings. He currently provides individual, group and family therapy, treating a wide range of age groups, including teens, adults and seniors. Howard sees clients at Samaritan's Upper St. Clair and Sewickley offices.
During your first visit with Howard, you can expect to work together to define your problem and begin to explore possibilities. Howard emphasizes: Counseling is a process that works best as a collaboration that is focused and goal directed.
On a personal note, Howard is living proof that change is possible: he has maintained a 140 pound weight loss for the past eight years! He is married to Carol Ross Irwin, has three adult daughters and a pet basset hound. In his free time, Howard enjoys disc golf and jogging.
