The mission of the Samaritan Counseling Center is to help individuals, families and communities achieve spiritual, emotional and physical well-being through professional psychological counseling and educational programs using the resources of faith.
Founded in 1982, the Samaritan Counseling Center of Western PA has empowered more than 100,000 people struggling with mental/emotional disorders and life crises to gain hope, healing, and the ability to improve and enrich their lives. Utilizing best practices in the field of psychotherapy, we treat men, women and children of all ages, religions and walks of life from multiple locations in Western PA. Two key components of our mission include using a holistic, faith-based approach in the work we do, and providing Client Aid funds for those who lack the resources to pay.
Samaritan therapists are state licensed providers and people of faith who have earned at least one Master’s degree in the behavioral health field. Therapy is provided with respect for the individuality and faith beliefs of each person under our care.
Samaritan also serves as a training facility for graduate students (interns) who are close to completing their master’s degree in therapy. Interns may observe sessions and in some cases, serve as therapists.
As a nonprofit organization and accredited Center of the Samaritan Institute in Denver, CO, Samaritan meets the requirements of a rigorous accreditation process and is part of an international network of counseling centers. We also maintain profiles on the Pittsburgh Foundation and Guidestar websites.
